My Lipstick Collection/Obsession

Now, I can’t say that you’ll find me blogging about beauty things very often on here, mainly because it’s not really my key area of knowledge, however if there is just one area that I have a great passion for – then it’s lipstick.

I absolutely love how lipstick can make you feel, how it can change an outfit, how it can transform you and how it can make you feel like a million dollars. And the beauty of lipstick is that there is a shade out there to suit everyone. I have an array of colours and brands which make me feel special for a number of different reasons. For me, lipstick has now become one of those products I feel naked without.

I wont shy away from brands when it comes to lipstick, I don’t categorise them in the same way as I would other make-up products, to me it’s all about the colour and the finish. I am a matte girl.

My spectrum of colours isn’t huge, but I have everything from nudes, which having dark hair and features, can work incredibly well especially for summer, as well as the bold reds, browns and purples which are my staple colours.

My Mac lipstick (Third picture above, has definitely stood the test of time, is so comfortable to wear, and incredibly long lasting. This was a game changer for me, and after buying this lipstick, my love affair with lipstick began, so this colour will always mean something to me. This is such an incredibly soft and warm shade and works day or night. It’s definitely the sort of colour I will wear a lot more now that the Autumn nights start to draw in. You can shop my Mac colour here.

My Charlotte Tilbury shade means something to me in a completely different way, as when I bought this shade was the first time I started to combine lip liner with a lipstick. Creating your own lip lines can be much more dramatic and striking even with a softer colour. I was instantly drawn to this collection, because the box uses the words Matte Revolution, and actually this colour is from the Hot Lips Collection.  Aptly named Super Cindy, I feel like I should channel Cindy Crawford when I wear this shade. You can shop my Charlotte Tilbury here.

In my quest for the perfect matte finish, I came across Sleek’s Matte Me collection. I was recommended this as the best alternative to the Kylie Jenner kits, which are taking America by storm, and cost an absolute fortune to import to this country. Initially it was quite hard to get hold of this collection, as I think everyone else must have read the same article as me, however I did then manage to get my hands on the shade Birthday Suit. This is easily now one of my favourite shades. It goes on like a gloss, which initially I was really apprehensive about, but then it dries, and it dries like a matte. It is without a doubt one of the most solid in terms of overall coverage. My only concern with the Sleek collection is that it does have a tendency to really dry your lips out, but that is my only critique. Otherwise, I am slowly trying to complete the collection of the 6 shades available.

I think one of my biggest concerns with lipsticks, was always going to be tackling red. I genuinely think if you get it right, a hot red lip can do wonders for the person wearing it. I think it can make someone incredibly sexy, but also powerful and strong (well that’s certainly how I feel when I rock a red!) You’ve just got to be bold enough to try…and I think that’s exactly what I realised. You’ve got to be confident with your choices when it comes to lips, and actually if you’re not it will contribute to how you see yourself in the colour. So I went out and bought a handful of different reds, and now I cant live without them.

I even bought the red dress!

I think my message to women is that we have the luxury of being able to be whoever we want to be, and if you choose to make beauty a part of that your life, then feel confident to embrace it. I love that I have found something which makes me feel amazing every time I wear it, and I will continue to push the boundaries with colours and experiment with what makes me feel special. Every woman deserves to look and feel amazing.
